Flight delays are common doesn’t matter which airport you are travelling from. Gatwick, Heathrow and many other major UK airports suffer from flight delays, especially in the winter season. Waiting for a flight can cause great frustration for the passengers if the airport doesn’t provide them with exciting things.

So, what are the options which can be used to keep yourself busy? Here is the list of some of the things which you can do when your flight is delayed.

It might be best sticking to 3G once you exceed your 90 minutes. What’s the first thing you think when your flight is delayed? Surf the web obviously! Today in the digital age, we all travel by carrying our laptop with us. Traveling with your laptop is carrying like your home with you. You can talk with your family, send them emails and be in touch with them via social media. Therefore, the first thing you can do at the airport is to use one of the free hotspots available for all the passengers. Nearly every airport in the  UK provides high-speed internet to its passengers free of cost.

2. Compensation

If your flight is delayed for more than 2 hours, you are entitled to compensation. Especially if you have connecting flights, you may face the situation to miss your second flight. Therefore, make sure you claim what you are entitled to. If your flight is delayed for more than 4 hours, you are eligible to get a full refund for your flight ticket.

3. Grab a cup of coffee

Help yourself to make the wait more pleasant by grabbing a cup of coffee. There are numerous coffee shops at all major airports in the UK so the choice will never be a problem for you. Even if you have arrived early at the airport, these coffee shops are opened as soon as 4 a.m.

4. Use VIP airport lounges

If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the airport, you can use the VIP airport lounges. The airport lounges have all the necessary perks and it will be light on your pocket.  All the airport lounges have their own prices but most of the lounges prices start from as low as £20 per three-hour slot.

5. Explore the city

If your flight is delayed for more than 6 hours, you can have a chance to explore the city. You can catch a local train, open Google maps and explore the nearest shops, historical attraction, sea views, and many more things.

6. Get some sleep

If your flight is delayed for overnight, you will have only two options. Either you have to sleep in the airport or in the airport lounge or book a hotel.  Most of the airports have padded armless chairs where the passengers can lay down easily and have a sound sleep. Sleeping in airports isn’t for everyone. Therefore, those who do not want to sleep at a chair can go with the option of booking an airport lounge or hotel.
